Church Square is a delightful conservation area where some of the buildings date back to the 1600’s.  The 400 year old Anchor Pub, overlooking the square, is popularly believed to have been a haunt for Dick Turpin and has famously played host to numerous celebrities filming at the nearby Shepperton Studios.  Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor stayed here whilst filming Becket.
